Hastings railway station is approximately 1.1 miles (25 minute walk) from the theory Test Centre.
If you're arriving by car, there is on-street parking available either directly outside the theory test centre or close by.
Booking your theory test
When booking the theory test online be careful as there are companies charging hidden fees if you use their website. Only use the DVSA's online booking service, where you willl pay the standard fee.
You must take your UK photocard driving licence with you on the test day, otherwise your test will be cancelled. As a result you will lose your fee.
The theory test is in two parts and taken as a single test. Both parts must be passed to obtain an overall pass, and then your practical test can be booked.
Multiple-choice questions
The first part of the theory test is the multiple choice section. All questions and featured case studies are based on three books:
There are a total of 50 questions, which must be completed within 57 minutes. To pass this section, you need to correctly answer 43 out of the 50 questions (86%).
Hazard perception
The second and final part of the driving theory test is the hazard perception section.
You are shown 14 hazard perception video clips of approximately one minute each. There will be 15 developing hazards to find - at least one on each clip. However, one clip will have 2 developing hazards.
You can score up to 5 points for each developing hazard. To pass this part of the test you must obtain a score of 44 out of a possible 75.
